I dragged my sorry ass out of bed this morning and schlepped to the Heath Center, where I was informed that I could have a persistent, terrible cough for up to eight weeks before they decide something is wrong. On the plus side, I was given cough syrup with codeine in it, which means I can have extraordinarily vivid dreams if I so choose.
Speaking of which, I had the weirdest dream this morning when I took a nap after Greek. Dianne worked at the Writing Center with me, and, for some reason, Dana Burgess was holding a tutorial there. He had two beginning Greek classes instead of one, so there were a bunch of people I didn't know who kept asking me for help. At one point, there was a subplot (don't tell me your dreams don't have subplots) involving walking to the library and something to do with Warcraft monsters--I think they were hunting us for some reason. Anyway, when we returned to the Writing Center, Richard Gere dropped by. Turns out that he was an amateur Ancient Greek enthusiast and had a translation he wanted us to look over. It was pretty good, near as I can figure.
No real plans for this four-day. Stephanie and I are going to hang around here, except tomorrow, when she's going to Boise with Rob. Oooh, Boise.

Aww, coughing sucks. 8 weeks! That's so strange. I hope ya feel better soon. It's good to hear that "homework" isn't one of your plans for 4-day. I'm going to have to regulate on some of these people that plan to be in the library the whole time.

Gee, it must be fun to have four days free of intellectual worries and nowhere to go, noone to see. Just sit in your house, by yourself while your friend leaves for far away places. Must be great.

Dude, they went so her friend Rob could get evaluated for his next Tae Kwon Do rating. I don't even know how long they were planning to be there. I probably would have tried to arrange something if I'd known about it earlier than Thursday. BATBAT (as Will would say) you are coming on the 22nd, right?

I don't know, I'm poor. (I mean that and not in the pouty way it sounds)

I just got mad because up until this point I have always assumed you would come and visit me if you got the chance and this disproved that theory. I understand that you couldn't come. It probably wouldn't have been good for me either, but I hate that you never visit me. I miss you a lot and yet, I always have to be the one to make an effort. I understand, it is easier for my, you're sudo-on my way home and I have a car. However, it still sucks that you never come down. At this point I revert back to the assumed you would and you didn't concept. I know it is dumb, but it would have even been better if you had said something more than basically: "I have absolutely nothing to do" followed by "My friends are going to Boise." Even a "I wish I could go see Rachel" would have been nice. I'm sorry I just miss seeing you, especially after having the summer to once again spend every waking moment with. So anyway. I'm really trying to come up on the 22nd. I should have money for my stay there, but I don't think I'll have gas money, but I think I can guilt mom into giving me some if I promise to do work for her when I'm home. We'll see. Get better Dork.

I understand . . . You know me--I am not spontaneous. I need a long time to talk myself into doing anything. Thursday was just not enough notice.
And it's not like I didn't have stuff to do here. I have a list as long as my arm still, and I even got some done yesterday.
I love you and I miss you.

Dude, my dad was in a situation like that for awhile. He just kept coughing and coughing and being the stubborn bastard that he is, he totally wouldn't go see the doctor or take time off work or even do anything that would remotely resemble resting because then he would probably have to engage in some complex ritual of self-flagalation to appease the puritan gods of the noble American work ethic. Anyway, my mother finally nagged him to the point where he had no choice but to give in and do what she told him to do or suffer the wrath of my mother, which is, indeed, something worthy of great, great fear. He went to the doctor and asked why he couldn't stop coughing, and the doctor basically told him, "Dude, just stop coughing. There is nothing wrong with you." This is the story of my father's life. Fucking bastard.

Have you met my father? Even if you have, I still think I know more about him than you do. *Grrr*
