I had my first voice lesson today. Robyn is very nice. Really serious musician scare me, though. I feel like they can see that I'm only pretending to be good at anything.
Is it sad that I find music theory really, really fun? I just like the way things fit together. And I like knowing the right answer a lot.
I must make photocopies tonight! Must!

I know how you feel about the serious musicians, or anyone serious about anything, really. They make you feel like a fraud, even if you aren't.

I still feel like I should be in junior high a lot of the time. These people with "goals" and "plans" disturb me.

I have goals, but they're mostly nebulous and sometimes downright outrageous in nature. As for plans, I have those only in the evil super-villain, "Let me tell you my plan before I kill you" form.

I am taking music theory this year and it is incredibly awesomely fun. As much as drawing manuscript against a straight edge gives obscure arm muscles cramps, the stuff is fabulous. what are you working on? we're doing dominant seventh chords now, which I just figured out are basically any note's overtone series. wacko! this is emily, by the way. hi mary!

cool. this semester is 142 here, I think. we haven't done partwriting yet, but have done a little with completeing triads within 4part harmony.

i don't know that i am going to audition - i don't think that i really have the time considering i have evening classes three days a week.

Hi! You don't know me and I don't know you but I just had to say, speaking as Whitman's second music theory major ever, that music theory rocks. And by association those who like music theory rock.
