DUDE. I LOVE this job. I have done all my homework, helped a really sweet freshman, paid our power bill, and have access to unlimited superfast internet.
I think I'm going to like working at the Writing Center.
In other news, our Greek last night included a phrase that almost everyone in the class translated initially as: "On one hand, the man is strong, on the other hand, he is a farm." "Lazy" and "farm" are real similar in the spelling, you see.
Kyra continues to amuse. She glossed Thucydides as saying: "Your greatest honor will be in not being mentioned; go have more kids." I'm sure it sounded better in the original.
I burnt dinner, so it sucked. But I will persevere, and despite Ruty's proclamation, I will make bean burritos again, because these were NOT typical. They are usually yummy beyond measure.
Boy, my life is boring.
Edit, 10:30: Productive lemon! So cute!

Now did you put lettuce in that burrito? :-) I certainly understand language errors! I don't think I have made any horrible faux pas yet.

Whitman is not superfast. Whitman is medium, at best. I know this as I have touched the superfast, and pulled away as it burned me with the beautiful blinding glorious heat of its magnificence. Can you pull 2200k/sec? I thought not.

My connection at home is faster than Whitman's web (We've got broadband or something). Even our wireless is faster. I'm doing 11.0 Mbps right now, at home I get at least 54.0 Mbps.

Ruty's declaration went a little something like this, "I have never had burritos before. Maybe I just don't like burritos."

I really didn't like the tortillas, they smelled funny, and I actually thought the beans tasted alright. I've just never quite got the hang of beans with anything. Beans with cheese is odd. Beans with fresh vegetables is also odd. I just have never really been exposed to Mexican food prior to last year.

I think tortillas always smell funny. I've just learned to accept that as tortilla smell. However, next time I will switch brands.

The tortillas at La Casita don't have that smell, though, so I'm wondering what that's about. Maybe Stephanie is right, and La Casita does use lard and that makes everything all better, but you would think that lard would make things have a stronger smell.

I think, like Stephanie says, that the La Casita ones are fresh. Next time I will try heating them in the oven, maybe? Or her moist towelette trick?

We could try both. Or, if we are feeling particularly industrious, we could try making them ourselves from scratch. I'm not exactly sure where you go to find a tortilla receipe, but I'm pretty sure we could find one on-line if we look hard enough.

I'm glad to hear that you won't be living off of pasta boxes and canned soup. If you're feeling creative, try making stir-fry (I give you permission to use frozen if you're not up to chopping fresh) as it's also super yummy.

Also glad to hear you like working at the WC and that you are trying to sell our curtains again (I saw the students@ e-mail).

Finally, your productive lemon is way cuter than mine. Mine just has a stupid looking graduation cap on (and it's the same as the "accomplished" one).

I made stir-fry last week! It was good. We have kinda been living on mac and cheese, but we have managed some real meals, too.

Yay! Hmm... Now I'll have to come up with some more suggestions for cheap and easy college food. Soup comes to mind, except it's hot and you don't like soup anyway. Quesadillas? Lasagne. It's a little harder and more time consuming, but if you make a lot, you can freeze it and save it for later.
Still thinking...

I could make vegetarian lasagna, I suppose--Ruty can't eat it with meat. I'm waiting until it gets chilly to bust out my two soup recipes. I think tonight's dinner will be tuna sandwiches.

Ruty always makes life complicated. It's so, so sad having a Jew around all the time.

Hey, what's wrong with pasta boxes and canned soup?

Mary did you ever think that such a simple post would generate such a massive response? You are just too popular!

And can you blame them? I mean, I am the lucky one who gets to live with you and be around you every day, the rest of them only get to have you when you give them the honor of your company.
