Warning: this post is me whining about schoolwork.

Ack. Stupid music history listening.
*mutters darkly*
We hates it, my precious! Well, not the music history. Or even the listening so much. But the having to identify is major suckage. I much prefer Pickett-style "cram it all in one night and get it over with" tests to Thompson-style "know five pieces really well 'cos I'll play different recordings and fuck with your heads" quizzes. Of course, the difference between, say, Webern and Bartok is much more readily apparent than the difference between Dufay and Josquin. To ME, anyway.
From our latest Greek reading: "And the Cyclops does not answer but springs at the Acheans; and he seizes two of the companions and bashes them upon the ground; and their brains flow out and wet the earth." We terrified a prospie's mother reading this aloud in Reid yesterday. And people say a liberal arts education isn't good for anything.

I've heard of Bartok. But not the other ones.

I would fail that class.

Wasn't Bartok that cool bat character from the Disney movied "Anastasia"?

Ruty loses.
Don't worry, Dan; you're pretty well ahead of the curve to have heard of Bartok, frankly. And I was utterly convinced that I was going to fail last year. Turns out that they TEACH you stuff so you WON'T fail. Funny that.

That's an interesting concept for a class. I wonder who came up with that? Maybe it was Bartok the Bat! He's the one who says in a high squeaky voice, "And I *kick* her sir!" Which I found very fun. Sniff!

I am glad I am not alone in my love of Bartok (the bat). May I just say that I absolutely love your icon! Harry Potter is the greatest invention since cheese, and though the movies can't really touch the books, they certainly aren't bad entertainment.

Why thank you. I enjoy Harry Potter in most forms.

I have heard that Harry Potter #6 is slated to come out some time in 2005. Have you heard anything on this matter?

So Mary, this is the time when I wish you a very "Mary" Birthday. Yes, I am that sad. Anyway, good wishes to you and your 21st and your grand party which hopefully does exist. Do almost everything that I would never do for your birthday. Loves.

As one of Mary's aunts would say (I can never keep of Mary's plethora of quirky relative who all do very strange things) "That's only 2/3 of a pun: P.U."

Now, feel free to shoot . . . Mary's aunt!

I find it easier to always refer to one of her relatives as Aunt Kitty, I find it is usually right and if not it gets corrected with an additional funny anicdote about Kitty!

This sounds like an excellent policy. I may start taking it up!
