When I feel heavy metal
Jul. 28th, 2005 02:21 pmVolatile analysis is just irritating. First you have to use a key to determine which volatiles peaked when during the analysis, then mark them on the printout. But they don't always peak at exactly the same time, and some are tricky little buggers who hide very close together (like 3-methyl-1-butanol, which often masquerades as 2-methyl-1-butanol, the scamp). Then you have to enter them into the spreadsheet, which is needlessly complicated and has lots of volatiles listed (which frequently show up on the printout) besides the ones you are concerned with, so you must avoid them. Oogy. Plus I have no idea how to graph this. My boss thinks I'm simultaneously an idiot and a genius, because I forgot you have to turn on the dispenser before you can get water out, but I fixed a graph problem in thirty seconds that he couldn't fix in ten minutes. I am not the shiniest penny in the jar.
John Prine next week! And a little Walla Walla action, just to get my fix. Does anyone know if booklists are posted yet?
It really annoys me when people misspell "tomorrow." "Tommorrow" just LOOKS wrong.
