GREs done. Officially not thinking about them anymore.
I have a list of 52 potential graduate schools that I need to start narrowing down. Anyone who wants to throw in their two cents may do so. Anyone who wants to see the list is insane.
Nothing else to report . . .

I'm so jealous you guys are already done with the GREs - I'm not taking them til November. With everything else I've been doing, I didn't want to worry about studying for them too. So instead I have subject test study materials, same for the general test, thesis work, grad schools - I have piles everywhere!!!! Oh well, I go to camp for a week tomorrow, the one week I have away from everything. I hope you did well - see you in a couple of weeks!

How to narrow down the list:

See if you can't find something that you're specifically interested in, and then find out where all the authors who cover that subject teach. That's why I know (more or less) where I'm going to apply.

Ask the professors which schools are the best for producing professors.

Don't apply to any of the schools I'm applying to. (I'm kidding: the chance of getting into any given school is about 10%, though I think you're way more qualified than I am).

My two cents: move out of the Northwest—away from home, away from WW, and experience a new place on your own. You'll meet tons of amazing people and learn all sorts about your new region. Not that I don't love the NW or anything…

Suggestion noted. As there are only two schools I could potentially attend in the NW (UW and UO), this seems likely anyway . . .

i totally agree. i'm not even looking at schools in WA or OR and am crossing my fingers that the best program isn't on this coast. this is a good chance to see a different "culture" (for loss of the word I actually want :) ).
