I'll only fly away
Jul. 9th, 2006 02:25 pmI'm getting a cell phone. This may come as a shock to those who know me as something of a Luddite. What's shocking to me is that I'm getting a cell phone tomorrow. My father is infamous for snap decisions (he surprised my mother with a new lawnmower once), and he decided Thursday that we would all have cell phones. The research is done, the plan is purchased, and the phones will arrive inna mail tomorrow or the day after. Damn.
In other news, I'm headed to Ithaca to look for housing in a week. Fun fun. It will be nice to get a look at the campus, but I could do without the plane. I don't like to fly. Of course, driving there will be even worse . . .

Date: 2006-07-10 12:36 am (UTC)pretty soon the only people without cell phones will be those so stubbornly clinging to some distaste/fear of the things that they resemble people who insisted on typing their papers on a type writer when computers were widely available, or people who insisted on writing checks at the supermarket when everyone else just used their debit card. and it's those hold outs who always look the most foolish and take the most flack when they eventually succumb to the inevitability of progress.
so welcome. what's your provider? your family get a plan with unlimited text messages? to me, that feature is GOLD.
