I got a letter from Ruty, which made my day. It is written on fabulous Engrish stationery. The best line by far is made even more amusing by an utter lack of context: "The past is like a dream brimful of sweet memories, warm feelings and loving thoughts. Cranes have grown and climbed all over my wall of yearning." I also confess to a fondness for: "Let our life be brimming with smile! The sweet smile predicts our brillant future."

I tried the celebrity face thing that's making the rounds. My favorite picture had no hits. The next two I used gave me Jessica Simpson and Kim Cattrall, respectively. I think it must be broken.

I now have a bank account but no way to access it. I am slowly running out of money, even though I have almost ten thousand dollars in non-liquid assets sitting in my room.

I tried to be productive today and was thwarted in almost every manner possible. So I gave up and dinked around on the internet instead. I did read a major chunk of The Making of the English Working Class, though, which is just as boring and preachy as I remember it being when I read it in high school. What's wrong with history that isn't boring and preachy, anyway?

By the way, I'm slowly going friends-only for professional purposes. Anonymous readers should just go ahead and get an lj, already.

I went through the same thing, money-wise. As Nicole put it bluntly, "beggars must eat butts" (in reference to the butt of loaves of bread).

Also, I have been friend-only LJ posting for quite some time. Wise decision. Even changed all of my old entries to friends-only (which was quite a process, I must say, as there is no mass-changing of security settings for archival posts).

Haha, yeah. I've been slowly wading my way through four years of entries, not bothering with everything . . . I figure memes can remain visible to the masses.

"The Making of the English Working Class"? Ugh.

What's this "celebrity face thing"? I have heard nothing.

You upload a picture of whoever, and it tells you which celebrities the picture resembles.

It didn't recognize my Shatner picture:

They require you to sign up, and that always worries me.

I am so glad you liked the stationary! I thought of you when I first saw it and I figured no one would enjoy bad English like you. Also, for the record, the letter I wrote to you is the longest I've written so far. Did I manage to say anything about China in it? I can't remember. For some reason I kept forgetting to tell people about China, assuming my friends would find my adventures on "Pirates!" more interesting. Funny that.
