Hey, youse guys: my friend Stephanie wants to know about the alcohol policy at colleges other than Whitman. Leave a comment for her here or at [livejournal.com profile] princessrosered. Y'all should be able to add about four extra schools to her sample size.

I'm in! I'm now the least experienced second alto in the Whitman College Chorale! Free voice lessons! I NEVER expected this to happen . . . about a trillion people auditioned and God knows I don't have any training or experience . . . but there it was, my name, third on the list alphabetically. I didn't even look for the list; I didn't know it was up . . . Katie pointed it out.
Wow.
I am so happy.
Last night I bounced for like ten minutes straight.

So no one ever posts, eh? Piffle. *waves hand dismissively*
I cannot WAIT to go back to school. I wanna go now, now NOW.
Urgh.

Success! Shopping was accomplished over a weekend and two trips to Spokane. I purchased the following:
One skirt
Two pairs of chinos
Six shirts
Five pairs of underwear
Two bras
One formal dress, which is bootiful
One sticker, reading: "I look weird, but I'd kick your ass on Jeopardy"
Lots of earrings
Four plates
Four bowls
Four cobalt blue glasses
Two mugs
One photo tree
I now have no money, but lots of nice things.
I'll just avoid eating for a couple months. That's the ticket.

I HATE VOLATILES. I HATE THEM WITH THE FIREY PASSION OF A THOUSAND SUNS.
But I really like "Calvin and Hobbes."

Muuuuuuuuuuh.
It was very, very hard to get up this morning.
I'm finding it increasingly more difficult to be enthusiastic about my job. It's a great job. It's well within my abilities. And yet I am not satisfied.
I have no life, thus I have nothing about which to write.
Arrrrrrr.

I saw three movies in 26 hours. Oh my.
Yesterday, Rachel and I watched "Crime of Passion." Blargh. The nice thing about film noir, though, is that when it's good, it's good, and when it's bad, it's hilarious. We had so much fun with it. Unprintable fun . . . Later, Mom, Jack, Rach, and I went to see "A Mighty Wind," which was HILARIOUS. Go and see it. It's worth it.
I got my hair cut and went to the dentist this morning, so now I'm all clean and shiny.
My life is so boring.

Yay! I love running the partitioner! I sample bags with little syringes, then inject the samples one by one into the partitioner. Since it takes about 10 minutes to read each sample, I get to check my email and get paid for it. Oh yes.
I went to see Chicago last night with Andrea, Chas, Nicole, and Sierra. It was pretty good. I was impressed. It kinda gave me a headache, though--so many lights and colors.
I feel like I'm stuck in a holding pattern of some sort. Just waiting, waiting, waiting. On the plus side, I'm really looking forward to going back to school, unlike per usual. I miss everyone so much . . .

Muuuuuuuuuggggghhhh.
I have not updated because my life is very, very boring. Yesterday morning, I woke up feeling TERRIBLE. My voice was this horrid raspy croak. I did not go to work. I did get paid, however, which meant that I could order lots and lots of organ music from Malecki. Mmmmm . . . new music . . .
Rachel and I watched Laura last night--starring Gene Tierney, made in 1944 . . . good stuff. I've decided that I'm going to go on another film noir kick. I had fun on the last one.
I am still all croaky and icky. I think I'm going to go play Mummy Maze for a while and then continue finding sources for Ines. Such is life in the bowels of Johnson Hall.

DONE. DONE DONE DONE DONE DONE! I am DONE with my freshman year of college. Wow.
And this is my new to-do list:
-Dishes
-Core books to Marta
-Pack
And this is tomorrow's:
-Return books to library
-Sell books at buyback
-Meet with Jackie at 1
Compare to last night's update, gentle reader. Go ahead, compare. That's right: both of these combined are smaller than the previous list. And I have more time to do them in. Yes! In the immortal words of Kevin Spacey, "I rule!
Bwa ha ha! I just threw away my schedule and my weekly calendar. Won't be needing THOSE anymore! *cackles with unholy glee*
Of course, I still have to pack the room of doom. After dinner! After dinner I will conquer. I will be the Julius Caesar of Prentiss, storming the depths of my Gallic closet to bring the Pax Romana to the barbarian shoe hordes!
I'm in a rather silly mood.
fellmama: (Default)
I forgot: Marta, I need to get you your Core books. Gimme a call or come by tomorrow evening.

The Sirens sing a beautiful version of this song. I love this album. I should buy it or burn it or something.

Packing is definitely going to SUCK. I started some of it today--mostly taking stuff down from my bulletin board and cleaning out my desk a little. Crap, I need to do dishes tomorrow. So far, this is my to-do list:
--Organ lesson at 11:30
--Study for Everyday Life final
--Everyday Life final from 2-4
--Get programs from performances attended to Jackie
--Give back my keys to Cordiner and Chism (*sobs*)
--Pay Whitman $39
--Pay Dianne $40 (She added that one; I'm not actually planning on it)
--Check to see if my research paper is graded
--Put Erin's music in campus mail
--Let Lisa know about our trio plans
--Dishes--with an addendum of getting my Brita out of the fridge
--Get Simpsons episodes to Stephanie
--Laundry (optional). I may just pack a box of dirty clothes, which would be really sad but might become necessary
--Pack up all the crap I don't need on Monday night/Tuesday morning
I am never going to get all of this done. Ahhhhhhh!

This is Mary being very pissed because we didn't get our triple.

On to Plan B.

Is it scary that my anger music is Beethoven?
fellmama: (Ha)
I love this song. It's been playing on continuous loop in my room all evening.

Your Body Is a Wonderland
John Mayer
We got the afternoon,
You got this room for two,
One thing I've left to do,
Discover me,
Discovering you.

One mile to every inch of,
Your skin like porcelain,
One pair of candy lips and,
Your bubblegum tongue.

Cause if you want love,
We'll make it,
Swim in a deep sea,
Of blankets,
Take all your big plans,
And break 'em,
This is bound to be a while.

Your body is a wonderland,
Your body is a wonder (I'll use my hands),
Your body is a wonderland.

Something 'bout the way the hair falls in your face,
I love the shape you take when crawling towards the pillowcase,
You tell me where to go and,
Though I might leave to find it,
I'll never let your head hit the bed,
Without my hand behind it.

You want love?
We'll make it,
Swim in a deep sea,
Of blankets,
Take all your big plans,
And break 'em,
This is bound to be a while.

Your body is a wonderland,
Your body is a wonder (I'll use my hands),
Your body is a wonderland.

And I discovered this while searching for the lyrics.
This is freakin' funny.

The symphony was super, as always. I'm not fond of Rach 3, but I liked the Saint-Saens.

I painted my fingernails, and now they're all purple and glittery.

A good Spanish proverb: De sopa y amor, la primera es mejor. (The irony is that I don't even like soup.)

I had a really, really good practice session with my Beethoven. I think I might actually be able to learn it in time for juries, which would rock. I love this piece of music--the twenty-second sonata, Op. 54. It's SO cool. And Dr. Pickett, the head of the music department, ordered me two recordings of it. (Well, she ordered them for the library. But she did it because I asked.) So now I love Dr. Pickett, and I get to listen to Brendel play. Sheer bliss.

I have a history paper due tomorrow. I don't know what I'm writing on yet. This could be a problem.

I can't believe there's not a "musical" lemon. As Will would say, uggaBAH?

This night smells wonderful.
It makes a place in my chest ache, right below my breastbone. This particular scent has always done this to me, as long as I can remember. It's not a bad ache; I think it's a missing ache. Something is not there that should be, and I don't think I'll ever find it. This does not depress me.

In my basement again, watching "Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels." I am... unsure... about it. *pause*
OK, "Could everyone STOP getting shot?" is a good line.
I went out to lunch and dinner with Andrea today. (Happy birthday! *waves*) It was fun.
I am not bored at home, exactly; I have lots to do. But I would much rather be at school. I hope the summer isn't like this. It shouldn't be. Everyone else will be free, and I'll be working.
*sighs*
Dear God, the guy who plays Eddie is HOT.
My life is so uninteresting, really.
fellmama: (Ha)
So here I sit in the Moscow Public Library. Fun fun.
I've had an incredibly lazy couple of days--reading, hanging out with the Wallace-dwellers (and [livejournal.com profile] sparnak, of course), listening to the Amelie soundtrack pretty much nonstop, etc. I haven't been getting enough sleep, though. I really should go to bed before 2:30.
I miss Rachel SO MUCH. I hadn't realized how much until I came home. *sniffles* But, on the bright side, guess who gets to drive to Caldwell in May? That's right; me!(!!!!!!!) I'm excited, but I don't want to drive down and back by myself. Anybody feel like going to Caldwell?
Now I am off to... um... my house, where I will... I dunno... um... bum around?
